Executive Summary of the Project

A decade of transformation at LANXESS India’s Nagda manufacturing site, captured through a corporate milestone film showcasing operational excellence, Chemical Manufacturing, sustainability, water management, energy efficiency, quality achievements and community development, CSR. The film demonstrates how a major industrial site can combine productivity, safety, environmental responsibility and social impact.

A Decade of Industrial Transformation

In September 2019, LANXESS India marked 10 successful years of operations at its Nagda site, the flagship production facility for its Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit. Since acquiring Gwalior Chemical Industries, LANXESS had more than quadrupled its business while transforming the site into a compliant, safe and highly productive Chemical Manufacturing facility.

Turning Acquisition Into Operational Excellence

The beginning was challenging. Employees and stakeholders faced uncertainty about the future following the acquisition. LANXESS progressively established confidence by investing in site compliance, safety, process improvement and manufacturing capability.

The Nagda team enhanced capacity and de-bottlenecked processes using available equipment and minimum additional investment, demonstrating practical Plant Optimization and engineering-led operational improvement.

Engineering Solutions With Sustainability at the Core

Water scarcity presented a significant regional challenge. LANXESS responded by treating sewage water through an STP and RO plant for reuse in process operations and utilities. The initiative delivered both environmental and operational value and earned the Water Resource Management Award in 2009.

By 2011, the site's quality standards had achieved national recognition through the prestigious IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award, reflecting a sustained commitment to Quality Management and manufacturing excellence.

Converting Waste Into Energy

Sustainability extended to energy management. In 2010, LANXESS installed a cogeneration plant to reduce dependence on conventional power and lower its carbon footprint. The facility used soya husk, an agricultural waste product sourced from nearby farms in Nagda, demonstrating an effective Renewable Energy and industrial sustainability model.

Beyond the Factory: Creating Community Value

The film also documents LANXESS India's long-term commitment to the Nagda community. Environmental initiatives included large-scale tree planting and awareness programs, while social investments addressed healthcare, education and community infrastructure.

Key initiatives included:

For residents such as Mohan Lal, access to dialysis facilities meant eliminating the need to travel 40 kilometres for treatment. Doctors gained better medical equipment, while students and young people benefited from improved educational resources.

Crafting the Milestone Film

The corporate audiovisual was structured around a decade-long transformation rather than simply presenting a chronology of achievements. The storytelling connected Industrial Manufacturing, engineering improvements, Sustainability, quality, employee welfare and CSR into one business narrative.

The result positioned the Nagda site not merely as a production facility, but as an example of how industrial investment can create lasting value for employees, communities and the surrounding ecosystem.

A Corporate Story Built for Stakeholders
