Executive Summary of the Project

TOPPAN Printing Co.Ltd, a leading business conglomerate has diversified businesses in Japan and across the globe. Toppan’s education division has realized the need to groom young children methodically in their formative years, particularly in mathematics to make them aces of the futures
With years of research and evolution, Toppan has developed its flagship product “YARUKEY”, an internet based digital workbook education service for elementary schools. This service has been running successfully across Japan, Europe and in the US.
After undertaking an extensive research on Indian education needs, Toppan felt the dire need for such services for the Indian schools.
India has unique challenges in education due to its large population, multiple boards, fewer teachers especially in remote rural schools, underqualified teachers and students from the underprivileged families among several others.
Yarukey fits the Indian scenario well and can help mitigate many of these challenges.
Yarukey. A platform to learn and teach math was developed based on concepts rather than syllabus based learning.
Unlike most other standalone products, this cloud based platform facilitates each individual to work at his own pace. Automated progress monitoring and evaluation, offloads the burden on teachers and already overburdened school system! YARUKEY has been visibly improving problem solving ability among young children thus forming a habit of building skills and confidence through self learning at their own pace.
The teacher assigns math problems to students through Yarukey application.vThe students, after setting their goals start solving the problems and submit their assignment. Interestingly, the teachers can check the students’ answers immediately after the submission of the assignments. Yarukey identifies more than 400 stumbling points while solving math problems and guides each student accordingly.
The teacher can find out stumbling points of every student instantly thereby allowing her to gauge each students’ level of understanding. Yarukey also allows parents to access their child’s performance independently. The students are awarded coins and trophies based on their problem solving ability The gaming features motivate students to learn on their own, at their own pace thus building confidence and love for mathematics as a subject.
YaruKey is indeed a formidable enabler in dispelling the fear of mathematics among young minds thereby transforming students for a bright future and preparing for a better tomorrow.
